Maybe they know what day it is and, just like me, are trying to find a way to distract themselves. I turn my head on my pillow to face the wall opposite my window, and I stare at the dancing shadows it almost seems like they’re putting on a show for me. Life gets busy, and I don’t have much time to focus on these smaller things. I’ve been meaning to get new ones, with the fabric present adorned with childish designs on account of my having owned them since before I moved here, but I never got around to it. They’ve barely been hanging onto the pole plastered into the wall above, and the more time they’ve been left to cling on, the less efficient they have become. The sun glares through the curtains hung above my window, and although it bothers me, I know that there is nothing that I can do to fix it at the moment.
